Flight Club is a tuition-based after-school program for Kindergarten and First Grade students in 51 Independent School 51. It is an engineering program where students work in teams or individually to design, test, and modify 4 tools that interact with air - kites, parachutes, paper airplanes, and simple rockets. Students learn about the basic principles of flight and design when creating each of these tools. It's a great opportunity for students to challenge their thinking and gives them hands-on ways to see how these tools are built and how they work!

T.I.P Lab Every Other Wednesday Fall Semester from 3:30PM to 5:00PM. Every Wednesday Spring Semester from 3:30PM to 5:00PM.

Tomorrow’s innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Guided by adult Coaches, FIRST LEGO League teams research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology, then compete on a table-top playing field.

It all adds up to tons of fun while they learn to apply science, technology, engineering, and math concepts (STEM), plus a big dose of imagination, to solve a problem. Along their discovery journey, they develop critical thinking and team-building skills, basic STEM applications, and even presentation skills, as they must present their solutions with a dash of creativity to judges. They also practice the Program’s signature Core Values.

At Fields Elementary, we pride ourselves on nurturing future leaders while ensuring the safety of our campus. Our student safety patrols, a dedicated group of young leaders, are integral to this mission, assisting with essential duties before and after school. These students exemplify responsibility and attentiveness, guiding their peers safely through crowded spaces and monitoring school zones to maintain order. Through their service, they not only contribute to a safer school environment but also embody the leadership and community values we hold dear. Their commitment showcases the powerful combination of student empowerment and campus safety at Fields Elementary.

If your child enjoys building things, figuring out how something works, and likes working with their hands, then Solar Cars is the club for them.  In this club, students will build a solar-powered car from scratch and race their car with teams from other NISD elementary schools at the Annual NISD Solar Car Races. This club is for fourth and fifth-grade students.

STEAM Team is a club to encourages third-grade students to use their creativity to design a working Rube Goldberg machine that performs a simple task.  Students use scientific knowledge, creativity, and grit to work through each challenge.

Greetings, explorers of the unknown and dreamers of the night sky! Fields ES is thrilled to launch the Young Astronauts Club, a universe of discovery waiting for eager minds under the guidance of Ms. Mora. This club is not just any extracurricular—it's a portal to the cosmos, designed to inspire the next generation of astronomers, engineers, and space explorers.

The Young Astronauts Club invites students to embark on an interstellar journey, exploring the mysteries of the universe, the wonders of space travel, and the marvels of astronomical phenomena. From hands-on experiments that defy gravity to build model rockets that reach for the stars, our members dive deep into the science that propels us beyond our Earthly bounds. It’s a place where curiosity meets creativity, leading to breathtaking discoveries about our world and beyond.

Our mission? To ignite a lifelong passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), fostering a deep appreciation for the vastness of space and the potential of human innovation. Club activities are designed to challenge young minds, encourage teamwork, and develop problem-solving skills through the lens of space exploration and astronomy.

Whether you dream of walking on Mars, gazing through telescopes to uncover distant galaxies, or simply have a curiosity about what lies beyond our atmosphere, the Young Astronauts Club is your launchpad. No previous space experience is necessary—just bring your enthusiasm and a readiness to explore!

Join the Young Astronauts Club at Fields ES and be part of a community that looks up to the stars and dreams big. Together, we'll embark on a journey of discovery, pushing the boundaries of our knowledge and imagining the possibilities of the future.

Blast off into a world of discovery where the sky is not the limit—it's just the beginning!
